When Bernarda Alba’s husband dies, she declares a state of emergency. Under the guise of morality, honor, and family unity, she drives a wedge between her five daughters and establishes a regime of fear and terror. Violence is disguised as order, and rigid patriarchy as protection from the threats of the outside world. But not all daughters are willing to endure oppression and patriarchal brutality.

This is a story about freedom that begins at home—and about the few who dare to look out the window and dream of another life.

Federico Garcia Lorca, a Spanish poet, playwright, and theatre director was considered a dangerous figure because of his liberal views, his criticism of authority, and his homosexuality. “The House of Bernarda Alba” was written in 1936; two months later, the author was murdered and his burial place remains unknown. The play was first staged, posthumously, only in 1945 and since became a world classic.

Premiere: April 23, 2026
